This month, Carter’s NHS is trying to collect teddy bears or any comforting toys for the Children’s Advocacy Centers of Texas (CACTX), located in Edinburg.

Cecilia Martinez, a 2016 JCEC graduate, came up with this project for the children who are in need of the CACTX. The program offers its services for those under eighteen who have experienced a form of abuse. The toys are meant to provide a temporary solace.

However, not only is NHS allowed to donate teddy bears. Anybody can and is encouraged to do so. The teddy bears do not have to be new and can be dropped off at Mrs. Camarillo’s room (E-110). The end date for this project is early November, but the sooner, the better.

“National Honor Society is proud to help the Children’s Advocacy Center. Everyone’s help or teddy bear donations can comfort [children] who have been sexually assaulted,” says Albert Lopez, NHS Vice President.
