Jimmy Carter High School is excited to welcome Mrs. Acevedo as its newest teaching staff member, bringing a fresh approach to education. Mrs. Acevedo, who completed her Bachelor’s degree at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley in May 2020 and her Master’s degree at UT Health in Houston in December 2022, joins the school with a strong background in both education and science.
Her path to teaching began in graduate school, where she served as a teaching assistant, engaging with students and faculty to deliver enriching educational experiences. Mrs. Acevedo’s passion for teaching, particularly in the sciences, is evident in her eagerness to teach various branches, including biology and physics, emphasizing hands-on learning and practical application to help students grasp complex concepts.
Committed to fostering academic excellence and personal growth, Mrs. Acevedo plans to support her students through structured assignments, guided explorations of concepts, and encouragement for independent study and experimentation. She values the community and collaboration within Jimmy Carter High School. She is dedicated to significantly impacting her students’ lives and the broader school community.
