The Cyber Techies
The Cyber Techies, a new club at Jimmy Carter Early College High School, is trying to create a more friendly, teaching programming space for students.
Nathan Duncan, the president of Cyber Techies, said that he and his friend Christopher Avalos came up with the idea for this club during their second period class. They made a Google Form to see if anyone was interested in joining, then pitched the idea to the principal.
“It’s gonna teach them about technology, programming, robotics, things that the world really needs and is being built on,” Duncan said.
When the principal told them to come by her office, they were given a form for the club that they needed to fill out to make it official, and according to Duncan soon enough, people began to respond to the google docs and posters they had created previously.
“Life is turning into technology; it keeps building up on technology,” he said.
He also said that it’s essential that kids learn it. The Cyber Techies are trying to create a more friendly programming space because many kids interested in programming are very kept to themselves, and they want to change that.
