Alyna Gonzalez, a sophomore at Jimmy Carter Early College High School, balances dual enrollment classes and JROTC at Juarez-Lincoln High School.
With the support of her family, friends, and teachers, Gonzalez manages her demanding schedule. She books meetings with advisors online for help with her dual enrollment classes. Despite the challenges of stress and pressure, she finds comfort in reflecting on the positive aspects of her life, such as her family, friends, and hobbies like makeup. This helps her realize that stress is temporary and motivates her to persevere.
“I struggle to manage my time being in JROTC and staying after school for the Raiders while taking college classes,” Gonzalez said.
Gonzalez relies on classmates in her dual-enrollment courses for support and assistance. Her teachers also provide extra help when needed.
She enjoys the environment and appreciates her sergeants. “I love the Raiders because we work as a team,” Gonzalez said.
