Emmanuel Zavala, a student from Jimmy Carter Early College High School made an impact on the football field by helping the HUSKIES get their first varsity win in four years.. A football player for the MIGHTY HUSKIES and he shows how resilient he is and how much of an impact he makes off the books. He is a brilliant student at Jimmy Carter. He knows how to manage his education and his extra curricular activities. It shows that he is very adaptable.
Manny said “ It was an amazing feeling winning and snapping a four year losing streak and making news headlines.” It isn’t the first time we have snapped a losing streak since my freshman year. The team we’ve always beat is Donna North Chiefs”
It shows how dominant the class of 2026 has been since they have entered. It shows how much they thrive for greatness and are determined to change the culture and environment of the football team.
Questioning Manny how he felt going into the game.
Manny said “Going into the game I wasn’t very nervous. I couldn't wait for the game to start. I knew that I was going to have everything I have until the clock hits 00:00 in the fourth quarter.”
Manny said “What made me want to win the game so badly was I wanted people to understand we aren’t the same we work harder and are more disciplined than years before.”
Manny said “The environment was surely different, no one was joking around or messing around before the game everyone was locked in and wanted this win.”
Manny said ”Yes, I wanted to make the most out of every play and I wanted us as a team to make a statement.”
Manny said “I had an awful morning which made me so mad and I took the anger with me all the way to Donna.”
Manny said “Pos-game the feeling was like a different environment. It was like a feeling of when you put in so much effort the only outcome is to do great.”
Manny said “My feeling throughout the day was anger, having an awful morning and then having a lot more work to do in school just made me feel angry.”
Manny said “Although I didn’t play to my standards I helped overall by making great plays that helped get the win.”

“It was an amazing feeling to win and snap a four-year losing streak while making headlines. Since my freshman year, this isn’t the first time we’ve ended a streak like this. We’ve always been able to beat the Donna North Chiefs,” Zavala said.
Zavala credits much of the team’s success to the determination and focus of the Class of 2026, a group that has shown a commitment to turning the football program around.

“Going into the game, I wasn’t nervous. I was excited for it to start, I knew I was going to give everything I had until the clock hit 00:00 in the fourth quarter.” Zavala said.
Zavala believes that one big play can shift the momentum and change the outcome of the game.
“What motivated me to win was that I wanted people to see we’re not the same team, We work harder and are more disciplined than before. The environment was different; everyone was locked in and focused before the game.”Zavala said.

“I wanted to make the most of every play, and I wanted us as a team to make a statement,” Zavala said.

“I didn’t play to my own standards, but I made some great plays that helped us win,” Zavala said.
Zavala’s high expectations for himself remain unchanged, even after a historic win, demonstrating his pride and determination.
