On July 15, 2015, Houston Dynamo founded RGV Toros. RGVFC Toros brings competitors in the RGV the opportunity to play at the highest youth level in the United States. There, they can become the next generation of players for the RGV Toros.
There is a school named IDEA Toros, where students practice soccer to improve their skills and get a chance to be recruited. The Rio Grande Valley FC Toros is an American soccer team from the United Soccer League that serves as a hybrid affiliate of the Houston Dynamo from the Major League Soccer. The basketball team RGV Vipers and the soccer team RGV Toros share the same owner, Alonzo Cantu, and are both owned by Lone Star, LLC. The RGV Toros is located in Edinburg, Texas, and they have a stadium (H-E-B Park).
The Houston Dynamo officials met with the USL officials about creating a team. That means that Houston Dynamo will be responsible for the soccer operation of the club, selecting players and coaching staff. Lone Star will be responsible for the actions and day-to-day management of the club. Houston Dynamo’s president called the relationship “an important and necessary step.”
