Betsy Garcia, junior, competed at the Texas Association of Future Educators (TAFE) Regional Meet this past month on November 16. One notable thing about this competition is that Betsy advanced to state for not only one but all of her events.
It has only been less than a month since the competition, and Betsy herself is still surprised at this.
“I am very shocked. I didn’t think that I was capable of making it for all of my events since last year I only made it for my (ELF) test, so I am very excited.”
Betsy advanced in: The Educational Leadership Fundamentals Test (ELF), Chapter Yearbook, and Researching Learning Challenges.
“I feel like on some days that it been so long since regionals, but then sometimes I’m like oh my goodness we have to get ready for state,” Betsy adds.
Betsy will now go on and compete with her other fellow TAFE qualifiers and travel to McAllen, Texas, from February 20 to 22. The Carter Redwolves wish Betsy and the rest of the TAFE state qualifiers luck and hope for them to place and advance to Nationals.
Betsy knows that the road to state won’t be easy; however, she hopes herself and her team will have the same results and luck as they did in Regionals.
