JCECHS is pleased to announce that over 90% of students enrolled in dual enrollment Professional Communication earned industry certifications this academic year. Through the intensive certification program, these students have shown mastery of the knowledge needed for entrance into their respective career field of interest in various Career and Technical Education (CTE) subject areas. This promotes a successful transition to postsecondary education and/or the workforce.

These students not only were faced with completing the rigorous academic program in a college level course, but also managed to complete the requirements of this industry certification. Carter has not offered this opportunity prior to the 2019 Spring semester.

“Our goal in offering certification testing on the iCEV platform was to provide students with validation of the specialized skills they have developed and knowledge-base they’ve built,” said Dusty Moore, President, iCEV.

The certifications reflect the needs of real-world career expectations, boost employability and allow employers to identify and connect with qualified applicants. To earn the certification, each student passed a rigorous exam based on weighted industry-valued and industry-accepted standards.

“The students we are preparing today are not only taking on high school, but also college as South Texas College alumni. They are meeting requirements that were traditionally only imposed on adults. At Carter we are preparing the work force of tomorrow. Our students are going to lead our community and they are earning the accolades and merits that will distinguish them going forward,” said Ivan Silva, dual enrollment instructor.

Certification earners include:

Southwest Airlines Professional Communications Certification

“The certifications are meant to have an immediate positive impact on students as they plan for their future after high school, whether that is attending college or joining the workforce. On behalf of CEV Multimedia and our industry partners, we congratulate all students at Jimmy Carter Early College High School for this tremendous accomplishment and wish them the best as they pursue their career goals,” said Moore.

Students will be recognized and presented with their certificate at end of school year awards assembly. These students have taken an important step in pursuing career goals by attaining industry certifications
