Juarez Lincoln High School’s boys soccer team has built a statewide reputation for their success in soccer. However, this year the girls soccer team has built their own reputation for the successful season they’ve had.
Leslie Lopez, Jimmy Carter Early College High School student and Juarez Lincoln athlete, has played a big role in the team’s success.
Leslie Lopez initially played as a forward, a position that helped her understand the game. Mid season, Coach Garza moved Leslie to the back line. Successful in playing defense, the back line has set the record for preventing the most goals ever.
Leslie Lopez said, “ This year the team’s attitude has been different compared to other years. We can always rely on each other and sacrifice everything on the field.”
Today’s 7-0 win against Mission High School takes the Juarez Lincoln’s girls soccer team to a record of 31 wins and 1 loss. Next Tuesday, March 5th, the team will face La Joya to try to extend their record wins.
